Black Raspberry

A special variety of the red raspberry and not to be confused with its distant cousin the blackberry, black raspberries are primarily grown in the Pacific Northwest, Mexico, and Chile. This fruit is packed with nutritional strength: a one cup serving of black raspberry can provide 9 grams of fiber. Low in calories, these berries contain over half the recommended daily value of vitamin C. Deep rich purple pigments rich in anthocyanins (antioxidant colorants) put black raspberries among those fruits suggested to provide health benefits such as reducing risk of cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. The deep, rich color puts black raspberries amongst those purple fruits sought after for beverage formulations and other trending applications.
